BEING PREPARED WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE

DID YOU KNOW that the first hour after a disaster is the most important time to save lives, reduce injuries, and limit property damage?

Because Los Angeles County has nearly 10 million residents, during a major emergency, first responders may not be available during that critical first hour. Often your neighbors will be the first one to help.

Let’s all take the responsibility to be prepared seriously, for ourselves, our families and our Franklin Hills neighbors.

Your FHRA provides regular tips and links to preparedness resources via our monthly FHRA Update emails (see archive links below) and in our bi-annual Overview magazine.

We also plan to roll out Ready Your Los Angeles Neighborhood (RYLAN), a program that provides tools and workshops to communicate with neighbors, help your family, and provide aid to others in event of an earthquake, fire, flood or other disaster.

Wondering where to begin? Here are a few easy starter steps.

Read the Update archive for essentials about making a plan, building a kit and subscribing to alerts. Contact us if you’re interested in becoming a RYLAN block captain, hosting a workshop or participating in training.  Commitment-averse? Here are some occasional ways to support this effort pending your interests and skills.

While we can’t always predict when disaster will strike, we can be prepared for when it does!
