P22 Visits the Shakespeare Bridge!

Last night at 3:23am we had a visit from one of our areas most famous felines. At first I thought someone’s very large dog had gotten out and then it hit me, THAT IS NOT A DOG! P22, his collar clearly visible, casually sauntered by our driveway on Monon St., just under the Shakespeare Bridge, on his way towards Marshall H.S. Having lived in Los Feliz for over 20 years I’ve seen plenty of wildlife around but I never thought P22 would come all the way down here for a visit. It was a thrill to see such a large and wild animal on our street and a reminder of how intertwined our world is with there’s.

In Memoriam Chris Boutelle

It was with great shock and sadness that we lost one of our longtime FHRA members to a tragic accident just before Thanksgiving this year. Chris was one of the longest serving members of the organization and graciously shared his time and talents to help bring our community together. FHRA has set up a small memorial on the Shakespeare Bridge to honor his memory and all his work to better the neighborhood. He will be sorely missed. R.I.P.

First Annual Halloween Block Party Was A Huge Success!

FHRA would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the neighbors who came out to our Block Party this past Saturday. We were overwhelmed by the turn out and by your generous donations for the homeless! A big thank you to the bands for donating their time and talent, Urban Press Winery for setting up the tasting, CD4 for lending us chairs, tables and tents and last but not least all the FHRA members who helped prepare and set up for the event. Hope to see everyone next year!

FHRA Donations Delivered to the Los Feliz Interim Housing Facility

The FHRA and community members donated the following to the Los Feliz Bridge Housing facility on Riverside today: 700 bars facial soap, 120 Chapsticks, 576 toothpastes, 100 shaving kits, 100 shaving creams, 100 liquid soaps, 72 moisturizers, 36 deodorants, 150 face masks, 378 feminine pads, 60 pairs socks and 1,140 toothbrushes! A huge THANK YOU to all those who donated!

A message from the PATH team: [FHRA] just dropped off our highest need hygiene items and socks with our team at PATH LA for distribution to our Los Feliz Interim Housing sites. We are so incredibly thankful for this amazing support!  We could not do the work that we do without dedicated community supporters like you.  Please extend our sincere gratitude to everyone that contributed.  Thanks, again

Bia Yapp Creates Beautiful Floral Installation for the LA Times on the Shakespeare Bridge

In Bia’s words “The LA Times asked me to create a work of floral art for the inaugural issue of IMAGE, their new magazine! Here’s what I created. The theme of this issue was “Remembrance.” I’m on the final page of the mag, hence “This is where Bia Yapp says goodbye with art.” Art and Photo by Bia Yapp https://www.biablooms.com
